After zipping down the slopes of Mt. Bachelor, you think to yourself, “I love Bend and I want to live here!”.
As Bendites on the front lines of helping people relocate to Central Oregon, at The Ladd Group, we hear this all the time and are passionate about making your move to Bend a reality. Often time winter visitors have a great trip and then plan to come back in the summer to purchase a home. Here are a few reasons why it’s worth making the effort to go home shopping in the winter:
Dedicated time with your Broker
Looking for a home in the winter generally gives you more dedicated time to view homes, learn about the local market and generally more focused attention from your dedicated Buyer’s Agent. At the Ladd Group, we have two dedicated Buyer’s Agents who are focused full-time on working with home buyers. Meet our Buyer’s Agents, Bryan & Lily here.
More Options
Often times home buyers think they’ll have fewer houses to choose from in the winter. While typically there are fewer homes on the market, you actually have a greater chance of finding the perfect home, because homes stay on the market a bit longer allowing you time to actually see them! In the summer when there are more buyers looking around, often times great properties are purchased immediately, before you’ve even seen the home.
Price
Typically the winter months allow for more negotiating room in regards to sales price. Because there are fewer buyers, when you find a home you love, you have a bit more leverage with the sellers compared to the heated summer markets when many buyers are competing for the same houses.
All Seasons
When you buy a home in the winter, you not only have seen the house and neighborhood during the coldest months, but you will actually have the house to enjoy for the summer! Time to tube down the river, hike the trails and swim in lakes…and relax at your new house on a sunny Central Oregon mid-summer day.
